An Appeal to Blog

If you haven't noticed already, there's been an explosion in bloggers over the last few years. They start as someone's adventure journal or engagement story, and now everybody's blogging! Photographers are posting pictures, it's a way to stay up on current events, technology, even babies are blogging! And I think you should too. So what if your life isn't that exciting? Post some pictures! Going on a trip? Post some pictures and some thoughts when you get back (check back here in a week to read about our camping trip coming up tomorrow). It's just a cool way to keep in touch. I love checking up on people's blogs, reading random thoughts or book reviews, and of course, looking at pictures.

But if there's one thing that makes checking up on all these blogs easier and a heck of a lot faster, it's google reader. Please read- it'll make entering the blogsphere much easier. Google reader is an RSS feed that tells you when the blogs you "subscribe" to have been updated. All you need is a google accout (which everyone should already have because the things google does are awesome). Then, you just add "subscriptions" to your google reader (which is just the web address for the blog you want to read. i.e. gregandcarrie.blogspot.com) and google reader will tell you whenever that website is updated. In this picture, you can see the list of all the blogs I check in the far left column, and the ones in bold are the blogs that have been updated but I have yet to read. I hope this makes sense because it's so cool. Then I can organize my blogs by folders, like "friend's blogs" or "news/information" or "pictures" or whatever. It's seriously worth a shot. Another fun fact: if you are a blogger yourself and you come across a post on someone else's blog through google reader that you want to share with others, just click on the "share" button at the bottom of the post, and it will automatically list it as a shared item on your blog (see ours to the right). So cool. I could go on forever, but I'll stop now and maybe you'll check it out. I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed.
